Whiskey American Oak Barrel
American white oak barrels contribute rich flavors such as vanilla, caramel, and coconut to the whiskey. The charring process inside the barrels caramelizes the wood sugars, enhancing these flavor notes.
American white oak whiskey barrels
American white oak barrels are renowned for imparting robust flavors to whiskey, often described as cherry-cream soda, vanilla, or coconut. The oils present in the wood contribute to a slightly thicker, creamy texture in the spirit. Additionally, this oak species contains more sweetness, spice, and tannins, with sugar flavors reminiscent of fig raisin pudding and campfire s’mores.
White oak barrels for aging
Staves are produced from American white oak, aged for 48 months in Missouri to enhance durability and flavor infusion. The interior of the barrels is charred to varying degrees, typically ranging from light char #1 to heavy char #5. This charring process caramelizes the wood’s natural sugars, contributing to the whiskey’s flavor profile.
